Florida Unemployment Pending Adjudication — Why Your Claim Is on Hold

You filed your claim, verified your identity, and certified on time — but your Reconnect dashboard still says "pending" and no payment has arrived. A monetary balance showing on your account does not mean you have been approved for payment. If there is an active hold, that balance sits frozen until the issue is resolved.

What "Pending Adjudication" Actually Means

Pending adjudication is a processing hold. FloridaCommerce has flagged something on your claim that requires investigation before benefits can be released. The most common triggers:

Non-monetary adjudication — FloridaCommerce is reviewing an issue about your separation, such as whether you quit voluntarily, were fired for misconduct, or were laid off. The agency may ask you and your former employer for information. Check the Documents screen and respond by the due date shown on each form. If you do not respond, the decision is made based on the information FloridaCommerce has.

Identity verification hold — You have not completed ID.me verification, or there is a mismatch in your identity documents. This hold blocks all benefit payments until the verification is cleared.

Monetary pending — Your base period wage records have not been confirmed. This can happen when an employer has not filed quarterly wage reports or when wages from another state need to be verified through a combined wage claim.

Employer protest — Your former employer is formally disputing the wages or employment dates you reported.

What You Should Do

Keep certifying. This is the most important thing. If the hold is cleared and you are found eligible, FloridaCommerce can pay those weeks retroactively — but only if you requested payment for them. If you missed a request, contact the Help Center to ask for the missed weeks to be made available.

Respond to fact-finding questionnaires immediately. Check your Reconnect inbox regularly. When FloridaCommerce sends a questionnaire about your separation, the response deadline is short. Answer every question truthfully and with as much detail as possible.

Check your ID.me status. If your hold is identity-related, log into ID.me separately to see if the verification is complete. If you had a name change or your documents do not match, you may need to upload additional documentation. Claimants under 18 must call 1-833-352-7759 for help verifying their identity.

Contact the Reemployment Assistance Help Center. If your claim has been pending for several weeks with no movement, submit an inquiry through the Help Center online or call 1-833-352-7759. Have your claim confirmation number ready.

How Long Does Adjudication Take?

There is no fixed timeline. Simple identity holds can clear in days once you complete ID.me. Non-monetary adjudications can take several weeks.

The waiting is frustrating, but the one thing that will definitely make it worse is skipping your biweekly certifications while you wait.

The Florida Unemployment Claim Guide includes a hold-clearing checklist and an agency communication log to track every call, inquiry, and response date — so nothing falls through the cracks while you wait for your claim to clear.
