PA Unemployment Contact Help

You have been calling the PA unemployment number for three hours straight and getting nothing but a busy signal. You are not doing anything wrong — the system regularly operates at capacity, and claimants have documented making hundreds of consecutive calls without reaching a queue. There are other ways in.

The Main Phone Line and When It Works

The statewide UC Service Center number is 1-888-313-7284, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST. Call volume is heaviest Monday mornings and the first hours after opening. Your best odds are mid-week (Wednesday or Thursday) between 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM, when the queue is thinnest.

If you get through to the hold queue, stay on the line. In October 2026, L&I reported an average UC Service Center call wait time of seven minutes; individual waits vary.

The PAT (Pennsylvania Teleclaims) number at 1-888-255-4728 is an automated self-service line for weekly certifications, certain payment information, and general UC program information; it does not connect you with a representative about claim issues. The Spanish-language PAT line is 1-877-888-8104.

Email: [email protected]

For non-urgent issues, send a secure message to [email protected] with your full name, the last four digits of your Social Security number, and a clear description of your issue. L&I says you will receive a response within 24 hours.

Be specific in your email. "My claim has been under review since October 15 and I have received no questionnaire or determination" is useful. "Why is my claim not working" is not. The more precise your description, the faster an examiner can locate your file and act on it.

UC Connect: In-Person Appointments at PA CareerLink

Call 1-855-284-8545 to schedule a UC Connect appointment at your local PA CareerLink center. This puts you face-to-face with someone who can access the UC system and help you understand what is holding up your claim.

UC Connect appointments provide face-to-face help from UC staff at PA CareerLink locations. They can help you navigate your claim, but an appointment does not replace the formal appeal process for a denial.

Your State Representative's Constituent Services Office

When standard channels have not worked after several weeks, your Pennsylvania state representative's district office may submit a Legislative Inquiry to L&I, depending on the issue.

Find your state representative at legis.state.pa.us. Call the district office (not the Harrisburg office), explain that your claim has been pending without action, and ask whether they can submit an inquiry to L&I. This does not change your eligibility or guarantee faster processing.

The PAULA Virtual Assistant

The automated virtual assistant (PAULA) is available through the UC portal at uc.pa.gov. For basic questions it can point you to the right page or form. If you need a live representative, use the chat to request a transfer — some claimants have found this route faster than the phone line during peak hours.

For the full set of contact channels, escalation strategies, and step-by-step guidance through the PA unemployment process, the Pennsylvania Unemployment Claim Guide covers every path to getting your claim moving.
